Non-Student Employees
All non-student employees are required to enroll in direct deposit for their payroll payments. Direct deposit provides a convenience to both employees and the University as well as reducing costs for the University. Payroll direct deposit will reach an employee's bank account earlier than a payroll check can be deposited in virtually every case. It also ensures the deposit will occur despite an employee's absence due to business travel, illness, vacation, etc. Access to cash is readily available through automated teller machines (ATMs), both on campus and off, as well as through personal checks cashed at the Business Office or elsewhere.
Non-student employees will receive a payroll check for their initial pay period or after a change in direct deposit information. These checks must be picked up at the Controller's Office by the individual after presenting proper identification.
Individuals may pick up their individual direct deposit advice from Payroll, after proper notification to Payroll and after presenting proper identification. Typically, an entire department's direct deposit advices will be delivered to a specified location by the University's delivery service. From this location, they will be picked up by one designated individual who has previously been approved in writing by the Department Chairperson. This individual will still have to present appropriate identification. Each department should have at least two designated individuals in the event that one of the individuals is unavailable
Students
Student employees and work-study students are strongly urged to enroll in direct deposit. The direct deposit advice will be included with the direct deposit advices for the department in which they are working. It will therefore be picked up by that department's designee and made available within the department. Students receiving payroll checks must pick up their checks in the Business Office in the Administration Building.
