Playground and Kitchen
The playground provides the children with a variety of gross motor activities. It includes one large and one small climber to challenge children of all ages. Children enjoy sand play on the deck in the warmer months. From May to October, a Sky Shade covers these areas. The shade deflects 99% of the sun's UV rays and keeps the children from the direct sun.
The playground includes a gas station playhouse for pretend play. The children ride tricycles and scooters on the sidewalk. A flat, grassy area provides room to play games and run through the sprinkler in the summer. Large pots where the children grow flowers and vegetables flank the west end of the play area.
The playground is entirely fenced and secured at both ends by locked gates.
Kitchen
Toddler and preschool age children eat breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack in the Center kitchen. The room is equipped so that small groups of children can eat with a teacher. Meals are served family style, with children learning to serve themselves. The teachers encourage healthy eating patterns and table manners.
The Center participates in the USDA Child and Adult Food Program. All meals and snacks follow USDA guidelines. The University Food Service delivers prepared food to the Center for each meal.
