Creighton University - 2006-2007 Faculty Hiring Procedures
Creighton University is committed to increasing the representation of minorities and women in faculty and administrative positions where they are currently underrepresented. Increasing the ethnic and gender diversity of the faculty is part of the “University's Mission” and “Creighton 2000”. Each Search Committee Chair is charged with actively seeking minority/female candidates and contributing to the University's goals. In addition to following the procedures outlined below please review and share with your committee the attached "Model for Improving the Recruitment of Minority Faculty Members and Minority/Female Administrators" which was accepted and approved by the “Academic Leadership Committee on 6/19/97.”
When a new position has been approved or authorization given to fill an existing position, which is or will become vacant, these procedures are to be followed:
- Position Announcement
- Position Announcement is prepared by the Department and must include appropriate qualifications for the selection of the candidate.
- After obtaining approval from the Dean, but before publicizing the position, the Search Committee Chair sends copies of the Position Announcement to the Affirmative Action Office for review and assignment of a case number for tracking purposes
- The Search Committee then publishes the Position Announcement to the appropriate audiences.

The plan identifies the Search Committee members, outlines the recruitment procedures, and specifies the time frame for the search.
