Minutes: The November 29, 2007 meeting minutes were approved by Amy Bones and seconded by Wade Pearson.

Mark Panning reported that the Grant Writing Task Force has been looking at potential projects. There seems to be opportunity with a request for funding about $23,000 in technology for use by the Counseling Center in the Harper Center. The estimates for upgrading the Lied Education Center are being developed and may be included in a grant application. Mark pointed out that the grants for building and structure improvements are not readily available.

Wade Pearson had not had an opportunity to meet with Vice Presidents Borchers and Enarson to discuss the use of disability accommodation statements in the course syllabi. Meetings will be scheduled.

Mark Panning reported that his Division is working on placing the Utah State on-line training program on a Creighton server. He did not offer a time frame but it is encouraging to know the effort is underway.

Lennis Pederson reported that the design for the accessibility ramp in St John's Church is completed and construction is being scheduled. The railing for the Ambo is under construction but going very tentatively.

Those that were in attendance for the Criss complex tour were most concerned about way finding. A project for a phased enhancement of the signage has been initiated.

Laura Mann will be hosting a tour of Creighton Hall to examine architectural barriers. The tour will be in April. Laura promises a quick view of the attic as part of the tour.

The ADA Symposium is starting to firm up. The events include a keynote presentation by Pat Callone and a panel of people she is asking to assist. Mark Panning will give a brief presentation regarding the ADA website. SEN will have a presentation. The Employee Assistance provider will make a presentation and have booth for the audience to learn more. Amy Bones will have a few slides that address how the ADA Bill is impacting and assisting the people that are giving care to the elderly. It was decided that two sessions may be desirable. Lennis is asked to learn if there is a better time for a session at CUMC after April 15. If the conventional wisdom is that the second session is of limited value, it will not be pursued.

Amy Bones will keep us informed on the status of the pending legislation that will broaden the coverage f the ADA Bill. The pending legislation will broaden the coverage of the ADA Bill to temporary disabilities and will be difficult to mitigate, if passed. The only opposition to the pending legislation is from the Chamber of Commerce.

The meeting ended at 11:45

The next meeting is Feb 26,'08 at 11:00 in the Swanson Hall south conference room.
