Minutes: The October 30, 2007 meeting minutes were approved by Amy Matthews and seconded by Lee Budesheim. There were three misspelled words in the notes.
Those present were not able to substantially update the Committee on the status of the grant writing task force. It is understood that the task force has resumed work.
Lee presented a disability accommodation statement for inclusion in Course Syllabi. The white paper was accepted with two minor changes. Lee is asked to update the clause and provide a copy to Wade Pearson so Wade can request through the Vice President for Academic Affairs that faculty utilize the language. Wade and Lennis will also present the document to the Vice President for Health Sciences
Wade gave a brief review of his forth coming presentation to the SEN group. His presentation will be November 28, 2007.
Lennis announced the ADA Symposium would be April 15, 2008 in the Skutt Student Center. The hours will be 10:30 am to 3:00 pm or something less. There will be an attempt to have a second session at CUMC. Over the next few weeks the agenda will be developed around the theme of an aging population.
Wade Pearson did not have an update on the task to develop an on-line training and education program. It is hoped that work on the program can be accomplished in time for a report at the January meeting.
Rich Rossi brought up the need for accessibility in St. John’s Church. The alter is not accessible because there is no ramp. Secondly, a place for wheel chairs in the main body of the church is not readily evident. Lennis will endeavor to mitigate both concerns.
The meeting adjourned at 11:45 am. The next meeting will be January 29th, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Swanson Hall Technology Room.
